That’s very impressive, young man!

And I always thought that Harry Turtledove must be called that for a reason – now I know what it is!

How about 22,554,198 Australians bleating? I am sure that by the new year the Ashes will be ours and not one of the entire population will agree that we deserved to win; they will winge, whine, and bleat.
Can you suggest any publication that may help them cheer up a bit?

Dear correspondents ~
Thank you both.
Yes, I always knew that ‘Harry Turtledove’ would come in handy at some stage…

I like the cricket-themed comment, although it may well take me some time to add another 22,000,000 additional verses to the original?
As for the book, how about the Warne/Hurley diaries, out soon?

I see that you have chosen to mention our French language books on the third day of Christmas. Surely you also could have created a link to our books on keeping chickens.
Apart from this, another wonderful posting. Very imaginative.

Dear ‘Library Elf’…
Many thanks.
Yes, we do have a good selection of books on poultry keeping etc, but – since we’ve already got links to turtledoves, birds and geese, I didn’t want to “put all my eggs in one basket”, as it were…but it’s a good point, so thanks again….
Now, I`m sure you’re very busy at this time of year, so I`d better let you get on…

Enjoyed singing along and reading the blog. When I was young I thought it was 4 collie birds, so that made me laugh.
Happy Christmas,
HH

Thank you, HH ~
And, on the same subject, how many of us used to think that Good King Wences “last” looked out…? I know I did.

On that theme - I came home from school and announced we had sung a hymn which included the words "we lay our crumbs at His tiny feet"
[crowns].

And there's always the "While shepherds washed their socks by night" version, but I think that this was a deliberate mistake...
